Why I'm Running
Sunday 8th JunIn a few weeks, I’ll be running a half marathon as part of my training for the Sydney Marathon. Like most runners, I have goals tied to distance, pace, and consistency — but this run holds a deeper meaning for me.
This race series is run by Bravehearts, an organisation dedicated to preventing child sexual abuse and helping survivors reclaim their lives. This is a cause incredibly close to my heart.
Whilst I won’t go into details, I’ve seen up close the lasting impact this kind of trauma can have — how it shapes a person’s sense of safety, trust, and self. It can echo through the years in ways that are hard to explain, and harder still to undo.
Every child deserves to grow up safe and those still affected need support to find their way forward.
