About me and why I’m doing this.
Sunday 29th NovG’day, I’m Isaac. I live on the South Coast of NSW with my 2 amazing kids and my partner, Julie.
In 2017, I had my first conversation with my partner about the years of emotional, physical and sexual abuse that I endured as a child. Over the past few years, it has been quite an intense healing journey and a roller coaster of emotions for us all. Rather than allowing my situation to define me, I instead decided to choose to use it as an opportunity to share my story, raise awareness and hopefully help remove the stigma surrounding sexual abuse, especially for men.
I first heard about Braveheart’s 777 during my healing journey and I instantly knew that this was something I needed to do. I enjoy running, it’s always been an escape for me and a tool that I have consistently used as a way to process my thoughts and emotions. I have never ran a marathon, let alone 7, so as much as this will be a challenge for me, I’m really eager to give it a go and pour my heart and soul into this.
My goal is to raise $10,000 and hopefully beyond, for the Braveheart’s foundation in order to support their continued work in helping children and survivors of sexual abuse.
I know how hard it is to speak up about this topic, even more so as a male. I hope though in doing so it will empower others to start the conversation.
