Couch to Dopey in 14 months
Saturday 26th Nov If you've been following along on Facebook, you know what this is all about, if you don't, here's the story. 15 years ago I saw marathon weekend and said "I'm going to do that one day" and then promptly forgot about it 🤣 it's popped into my head the last several years and when borders reopened I decided it's time. I decided I was going to do the 5km, 10km and 1/2 marathon events. However when I put this to the RunDisney Facebook community I was told if I did the full as well I'd get 2 extra medals. Well I'm not one to give up on some Disney bling so I decided to attempt the Dopey Challenge....yet I'm someone who struggles to run for a bus. 7th November 2021 I went to my local school oval and started the couch to 5k app running program....it took me about 3 weeks to accomplish day 1, however after that I was up going. Late December I entered my first 5km event and finished. I started reading all the books I could find on reading and Discovered Jeff Galloway and the run walk run method in March I completed a 10km in May my first half marathon. Now 12 months on I'm so close to marathon distance I believe I'm actually going to make it and succeed at this challenge! Share
